Insanity Behind The Mask

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
Or so they say,
Then behold this:
I’m ugly.

I’ve seen things,
Others never will.
The have changed me,
For the worst.

I’ve been to places,
I hope never to return.
Dark places,
That haunt a child’s nightmare.

Some say I’m pretty,
I beg to differ.
They don’t know me,
The real me.

At school,
That’s just a mask.
A happy,
Blissfully, ignorant mask.

I look into the mirror,
And ask:
Why?
Why am I here?

I wouldn’t change for the world,
If I could,
I’d take away,
The pain and suffering.

Every step I take,
Brings me closer,
Closer to the edge of insanity.

So I hope,
That when I die,
People will remember,
Me.
Not just my pretty mask
