Alyssa-Kay Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 in your experience has music helped you with your mental/emotional health
Guest Moon_Panda Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 yes... i do belive it has. not just emotional but phisical as well. when ever i felt angry before i just smashed my fist into the nearest thing that would break. but since i discovered music that helps me calm down, property damage has been kept to a minimal. but in all seriousness listening to a good when i'm depressed, even if it's a depressing song, is always good. kinda makes me feel better, like whenever i have some certain thaught then it is one of the few things that chase away those certain thaughts.
GothicFreakazoid Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Yes. In fact my therapist encourages me to listen to music I can relate to, to help me vent and express myself. And she doesn't care if its metal, classical, or whatever, so long as it makes me feel better. And honestly, I couldnt have gotten through all the shit in my life without music.

MikaLeanne Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Yeah, music can help, it`s stopped me from killing alot of people or breaking things all tha great stuff, but at the same time it can make things worse, like if I`m extremly pissed off and i listen to metal or screamo anything really dark themed it gets worse.
XxPocketSizedEmoVampirexX Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 yush yush yushies but it does definitely influence your mood...
Legend Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 "Music is the sound of one's state of being." -Legend
Lucid-Nightmare13 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Music can definitely help your mood. It releases certain chemicals in your brain which influence your mood so if your feeling down and you listen to something that always makes you smile then it will definitely improve your mood and help. Helps me out when I feel low xx
Darling_Kenzie_Sees_Stars Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Music is like my third savior. So yes, thinking back to personal issues I've faced, I say that music is one of the best forms of therapy.
Hanako 花子 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 When it comes to listening, it creates a mood for me. It can help me, by giving me a brighter mood or a focused one, depending on which mood I have to be in for the moment. However, it can also create a sadder mood or a fiery mood, and it's not necessarily helpful or productive. Also, it makes my imagination work in coolbean ways, so it keeps me in creative mode. When it comes to performing, it's a huge stress reliever for me.
DerdriueBurden Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I think it does cuz it expresses my emotions at that moment helping me feel like im not the only one who feels this way because their based on personal experiences
Carpe-Noctum Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Definitely, When I've Had A Horrible Day, Music Is The One Thing That Got Me Going Again, My Life Would Be Completely Meaningless Without Music.
Soph Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Music definitely helps my mood. Like I'll listen to ska to make me happy, reggae to chill me out, metal or punk if I'm trying to motivate myself. I dunno, it just definitely has an effect on your mood ;} Performing music too, as Trish said, is an amazing stress reliever. It can help you control your emotions.
L2296b Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Well I have played guitar for 6 years and if I'm without music or my guitars for to long I end up cutting its just something I need I love metal and I have certain bands for certain things Dealing with death - while she sleeps Pissed off - bullet for my valentine And depressed - bvb
Rawr I love you Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I think yes it has helped with many things when emotional or trying to calm down also it motivates when you are out doing something like running or a physical thing you are doing for me it helps in those ways but also it puts me in a different state of mind one that I would like to be in all the time where you can relate to the music and no longer be where you are but somewhere else where no one can reach you
