I sit here in my room

with two roses in my hand,

one has wilted, forlorn,

Many petals it has lost,

The other is as goos as new,

but it is lacking something too.

I gave you the first one,

many ages ago,

you gave me the second one today,

with an, "I love you too."

I had hoped to hear these magical words,

when i gave you that rose,

you had taken it with a sweet smile

and flung it to the floor.

Anger bubbled in my chest with grief,

The one i had loved has turned his back on me,

I held back my tears,

and picked up the broken rose,

along with my shattered heart,

No one knows how you had broken me apart.

You grimaced at my face,

from that day on,

My heart lurched, then it fell,

For me you were dead and gone

but today you came back,

and said, "I love you too."

The only words i wanted

to hear from you.

you said the words,

but a little too late.

History repeated itself,

but our places have changed.

You are waiting by my window,

mouthing the words, "I love you."

Do you understand how intense those words are?

Do you mean them the way i do?

One look at you

and memories flood my eyes,

I flung the rose at your face,

and scream out, "but i don't ... "
