Erasmas Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Haven't been on here in a long time, so there are a ton of poems I have not read. Give me a week or two to do that, starting tomorrow. XD Unsteady: My hand remains unsteady -- A sign of a scattered mind. My heart tried to be ready For the past I left behind. But you were there when I woke to face My deepest fears of what the future brings, In the corners of the darkest place, Where your mark was left on everything. And now the palace guards call my name, Calling me back to my empty throne. But I am tired of the lovers' game. It's so much easier to be alone. But the palace needs its man, And who am I to tell them no? For a while I'll do what I can To make sure the kingdom grows. Such is the nature of the leader's price -- A lonely life under the public eye. The lack of freedom is the King's own vice -- The world is watching every trick you try. So if you can keep a steady hand, Maybe your heart will be ready, too, For the Queen you want to rule the land -- For the girl sleeping next to you.
