Fiery Disaster

Some disasters are caused by nature, some are caused by carelessness, but this disaster was caused by a spark. The smell of burning plastic reached the nostrils of on lookers just that little bit too late. Black smoke started to rise from the plug-point in the wall slowly a small flame started to form, carefully, needlessly licking up the white wall causing a trail of black, burnt plaster. Every inhabitant of the building unexpectedly carried on with their duties while others lay in their beds unknowing that some of them would not make it out alive. Suddenly the cotton blankets caught fire, quickly the raging fire spread through the room giving off the suffocating stench of burning plastic and acids. Every new medicine that caught alight gave off an explosion slightly bigger than the last. Soon enough the fire was discovered but it had already destroyed three rooms, two of which had patients in them. The reckless fire moved through the building reaching the medicine chamber on the second floor.

The incandescent flames burst through the rooms, every blanket and medication became ash or fueled the next explosion. Oxygen cylinders heated up until finally they burst with a deadly outbreak of opulent flames flicking at the enclosed spaces. Electric blue flames accompanied each shattering outbreak followed by a harsh, burnt orange combustion burning every flammable material. As the fire grew, burning up all the oxygen, the windows were being oppressed, flames pushing against them yearning for the fresh air on the other side. Suddenly every window shattered, flicking glass onto the terrified onlookers who could do nothing but watch as the fire grew, turning the once well maintained building into a skyscraper of burning hell.

Blood curdling screams echoed through the hallways while the flames crackled away at the old wooden doors, travelling to and from room to room, destroying everything in its path. Finally the recessive bursts of fiery-red light swept around one last store room, scavenging for every last bit of intact, untouched gas, liquid or solid, as if this had been all the disaster was looking for, a gas bottle of nitrous oxide by the corner of the room. In a matter of seconds the secure vessel cracked open letting the gas escape into the enflamed atmosphere. A last, devastating explosion lit up the entire interior as the hospital caught fire taking patients, workers and innocent bystanders with it, a matter of hours later, the building would not be able to stand the foundations would be destroyed about fifty five deaths of harmless people, all caused by on plug-point.
