Guest xxRisikaxx Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Flightless bird Protection from the world, I scream at myself in the mirror. The reflection of an imperfect girl, Screams back at me. This is the girl I hate, This is the girl I fear, This is the girl I fight, This is the girl who is me. An individual lost in the crowd. Haunted by ideas, My body screams in pain, The girl in the mirror has opened my vein. Blood pours out my freshly cut skin, I see a freak of nature, A creature of sin. I feel like a monster, But am I really that bad? Do I belong in chains, hidden away? You can ignore the problem only for so long, Look at me, Look at me, Look at me mother, Look at me father, Do I not belong? Your perfect structure of life, Doesn’t fit me. My vision is clouded with your expectations. I cannot see, I cannot see, Oh why can’t I just be free? Would it make you feel better, mother If I just wore a mask? Put me in a dress, With a pretty pink bow And I will pretend to be perfect, Because you won’t let me go! Screaming at myself in the mirror A fist reaches out. Shattered. I’m tired of pretending, Tired of hiding, I cut my strings, I fall to the ground And cry for freedom. Running free of my mother’s web, I tangle myself in society. There is no freedom. Individuality becomes lost and I am forced to be found. Hunted down like an animal, I am chased. I run and I run and I run, But there is nowhere for me to go. Freedom, what a strange idea, What a peculiar concept, What a lie! No one is free, No one can escape, Not from the jaws of the monster. Yet, it seems I am the monster, Am I the monster here? I am the monster because I am different, Because I am not afraid. So chain me up and lock me away, Because no matter how far I run, Your judgmental eyes will follow me. I cannot get away, I cannot escape, Like a flightless bird, I am trapped.
