Emo Music

Emo Music

Emo is a genre of music that originated from punk in the 1990s, the term "Emo" describes the "emotive" tendencies of this genre. In the 1990s this genre was usually described as "indie", with bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate and Texas is the Reason (see playlist below). From the 1990s to now it has metamorphosed into a more mainstreamly popular genre that has roots in genres such as pop-punk and grunge as well as indie much like the bands of the 90s. Bands today are stereotyped by the melodic melancholy qualities of their music and the poetic "emotionality" of their lyrics. Some bands that fall into this "Emo" genre include: Jimmy Eat World, The Almost, Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, From First to Last and plenty more! While this "Emo" genre has been long to last, at about the mid 90's, the genre "screamo" was created.

Screamo Music

Screamo was the anatomy of wanting to scream out your emotions to the world. Quite simply a formation of exerting emotions more violently into music. Bands have taken this new form of "screaming" for granted, and some bands have even used it ways that don't even make sense. Some screamo bands are: Circle Takes The Square, Pg. 99, Portraits of Past, Orchid, City of Caterpillar and once again, PLENTY of more. Screamo has been bridged out into other genres, and often gets mixed up with post-hardcore bands of today's genres, such as Alesana, A Skylit Drive, and The Devil Wears Prada, which are also very emotional bands, but don't necessarily fall into the category of screamo, hence their music is more tensed and anguish.
