haha xD

Seriously, saying you look emo is kind of like stereotyping yourself.

You could say I'm "emo" referring to I'm "emotional" like to say how you're feeling atm.

But if you like want to describe how you look then well, to most people emo will get the point across. lol..

lol I think by "more true" she is asking you if you feel "holier than thou" as in you thinking you're better than whoever by repeating an overused question in regards to someone calling themselves "emo"

well at least this is what I have concluded by that statement...please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

What do you mean by "more true ?

It's funny cause I'm not emo but I defend ppl who call themselves emo. They can have such opinion in fact it is commonly understood = part of a language nowadays.

I also want ppl to remember times before scenesters appeared. When emo was a part of hardcore. A movement within subculture. Once there was a time when what you had to say/show was more important than your appearance. And it didn't matter what name you gave to it. As long as it wasn't against ur views.

In this music the content was important. And it carried the whole attitude.

It is still alive in underground. Even if they "are trying to kill emo culture" in the eyes of new generation.

What happens now?

Ppl are focused on how they look. Music called post-hardcore becomes more like techno or pop and very commercial. They care more whether someone can "scream proffessionally" than for expression and what they have to say. Thay repeat similar phrases with little meaning. Even if they want to say sth more they try to make their songs "not too complicated" for potential fans (collected among young careless creatures with "their own" style looking all the same). "technique" is more important than emotions and content.. Expression is dying. Attitude is dying.

There is less consciousness..

It's less rebellious..

I understand when someone gets annoyed if they treat "emo" as a "fashion" term.

But I cannot let its depth to be limited. Just to the sound. The sound has it's reason.

Cause I say it to ppl who cannot THINK. It's a backdraw of your generation.

Don't pretend you've read it all... or maybe you did..? then wow!

And I'm sorry that my words are too difficult. I should probably come back to words like "I'm so true cause I know what's in wikipedia" to find a common language with you all.

And what now? You are mod (and probably have admin friends) so u'll get rid of me? Come on!

I have my opinion at least and I know why.

Maybe I'm just too naiv so I think there are still some conscious, not commercialised kids out there. haha! So naiv...

I'm 23 years old and manage to talk down to people less than you do. Want to tell me what generation I belong to again? I think you're lost. kthx.
