And they also need to be healed and pierced, not vulnerable for infection. Then buy your starting gauge, go to a jewelry shop that sells them and try talking to the cashier about it. When I first started stretching, I got a few different sizes. Obviously don't shove in a size which is far too big for the piercing hole, or your ear will either split or be in extreme pain. Gradually work up to the size you want. I bought mine in Switzerland, therefore it was rather expensive. But just take this advice, and just get a starter one.
